Mixed Bricks

One of my favorite features in interior design are exposed bricks and stones. The juxtaposition of such an industrial material with softer design elements can bring about a most harmonious union. That curved wall is just a spectacular bonus!

Brick as a kitchen backsplash is a fantastic idea. An Old World meets Modern Aesthetic kinda vibe going on here...

Lovely Florals and Greenery

The beauty of live flowers are fleeting, for sure. Some even see it as a "waste" of money to purchase or give someone flowers because they will "just die". But I think there's something special about being able to capture and display the unique colors, shapes and fragrances that flowers possess...even if only for a short time.

Let's not forget our longer lasting green friends, plants and trees. Not only do they add life (literally) to a room, but they make the air a lot easier to breathe (for both the plants and animals ;)

Naturally, they make a great addition to the outside of your home as well, since that's their natural "hang-out" anyway!

 

There's even a way to combine the color appeal of flowers with the "lasting" qualities of plants/trees.....SUCCULENTS!! I love these little guys cause they're so easy to care for (which is right up my alley).

So when you're designing your next indoor/outdoor space...don't forget to inject actual life into your project!!!!

Longing for the warmth of Summer... le sigh

As I'm certain many of you can agree, these below freezing temps in NYC has got me longing for the warmth of the summer sun. Can't wait to strip off these layers and let the sun's rays warm me up!!
